You’ll find our beautiful Virgin Queen nestled away on the delightfully idyllic Goldsmith’s Row, smack bang in the middle of one of the most dynamic bits of Hackney (and just a hop, skip and a royal march from Broadway Market and Columbia Market). An exciting new pub venture in an intimate traditional establishment, complete with beautiful old-sourced wood and furnishings, The Virgin Queen is a much anticipated collaboration with The Fish House that brings together a top-notch selection of craft beers and delicious food. This crown jewel of a pub offers freshly battered and fried-to-order fish and chips, desserts fit for a queen and a wide selection of artisan spirits and worldly wines. You’ll have sleepless knights thinking about our melt-in-your-mouth cod and our 15 tapped beers are sure to be crowned the best in Hackney. Our roaring fireplaces will keep you warm across the winter months, and we’re dog friendly so do bring the corgis.
Wander through our gem of a pub towards our special fish bar located towards the back of the building, where you will find our kitchen run by The Fish House who serve ethically sourced and contemporary fish and chips. All of their fish is delivered daily and is in-keeping with the seasons, and our chips are made from big sacks of earthy, wholesome, rustic potatoes. Food can be eaten in or taken away, although we’d recommend hunkering down on your throne and partaking in a freshly poured pint or a reassuringly rich red wine with your meal.
The Virgin Queen enjoys a London brewed pint, so much so that 11 out of our 15 taps will be pouring beer from London based brewers. We have two taps on our back bar dedicated to the really quirky and harder to find beers – we call them Beers Of Intrigue. Just ask one of our friendly staff for their recommendations. We have wines aplenty, carefully chosen spirits and all of our soft drinks are made in Hackney by brilliant local outfit Square Root.
